Many things can frustrate sound engineers. A poorly designed room, equipment that isn't meeting expectations (or simply decides to stop working), of that vocalist who just has to point the mic at the stage monitor are just a few. There are many variables that can throw a wrench into that perfect mix you had in mind. But one of those things is you. The best equipment and the acoustically perfect room don't equal good sound if the operator isn't performing correctly. Before blaming equipment, environment, or performers (a classic excuse) take a hard look at you and what you are bringing to the table. Are you doing the best with what you have?
